Love & Practice

The other morning, a friend posted a video of an older couple dancing together. It was so refreshing and sweet to watch. Many of the comments for this video reflected these same thoughts. But, for one of them, my friend responded with this three word reply, "Love and Practice."

This reply really made me think. "Love and Practice." What if that sums up what it means to be a christian.

Paul says in Philippians 4:9,

"Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."

Paul understood "Love and Practice."

Love and Practice starts within. The understanding that love has to be our starting point and that we are practicing. This means that there are going to be mistakes. Sometimes we are going to get it right. Sometimes we are going to fall down. But practice implies that we are going to get back up! We are going to try again! Practice is understanding that in this process we are loved. We are loved, today, right where we are! That this is not about performance. There is no performance that can make us more loved by God. This practice is about dancing and twirling out all that he has created us to be. Simply living out his purpose. In this we are learning not to be so hard on ourselves.
